I’m desperate to be self employed but I don’t have a trade behind me. I think if it were something I was really into prior then I’d consider it. I enjoy fishing but the wife won’t let me be a monger lol
Yes, I've always been into bikes. This was the only thing I considered doing after taking voluntary redundancy a few years ago. Someone once told me "if you do what you love you'll never work a day in your life" and it's true, im open 7 days a week and pull 12-13 hour days regularly through the summer and I've never been happier.

One of my pet hates I'm afraid. When you buy a personal registration you make a declaration that you will not mis-space or misrepresent the registration or risk a fin and foreit of the number. So why do people ignore what they sign up to?

Blatant law breaking is hardly professional in my opinion....
If anything, the plate promotes his business. I’ve seen a lot of private plates on business vans with reference to the company name. The personalised touch looks goodImage

As a long time bike tech this is something I’ve looked into doing after recently becoming self employed as a handy person lol
I do a bit for a few bike traders but didn’t think I could make the leap to going to peoples houses for repairs.
Ideally I’d like to kit out vans but don’t have the funds to start Image

With correct liability insurance, web and logo design, tools, branding and so on you'll be spending 4-5k just to start, as you know cycling is seasonal for the majority of people so you need to have something to fall back on through the winter months when bikes get put away.

The business that runs the 2k is a bit specialised, and the van is the tip of the iceberg in terms of our costs. My "day job" pays the bills for me, but it's not an easy line of work to make decent money in.
Sorry chaps, much as our 2k looks nice, I prefer my Mk2. ;)

Well, what can I say! ‘Blatant’ nit picking is hardly in tune with the helpful ethos of this fine forum either ...

Like Stu (Barbel) says he’s never been stopped by ANPR, speed cameras, tolls or even numerous speed coppers! Only a special constable (PCSO) or wanna be police officer would even take the time to make such a petty comment ... ‘in my opinion’

If someone came to my house to repair my vehicle with a plate like this it would instill me with confidence and make me think this guy has got an ‘attention to detail’ attitude so its a yes from me StuImage

I work in the ski industry and have just changed from T5 / Transit Custom size vans to the Caddy Maxi as I need the length but it was only ever less that half full unless I was going to a trade show.

So I was paying a small fortune in fuel, tax, insurance etc to move a load of air around the country.

I'm having the rear seats fitted and constructing a bulk head behind the second row with a hatch to allow me to slide skis through when needed.

Yes from me too 4 months as my own business. I fit cctv/alarms/access control systems etc. She's racked out with a false floor so loads of room. Just upgraded the 'office' to Touran seats and centre console. Can't stop looking at alloys now I think there's something wrong with me.

Love the racking there Berger. Amazing how much you can get in them when you do a nice bespoke system like that
