Go off what the original pressure should be according to the data plaque
Either in petrol flap or door opening

Re: What tyre pressure would you use??
There is no need to change from the labeled pressures on the door post. I've run them on 225/40/R18 for 37,000 miles and they are spot on IMO.
After 37,000 the fronts measured 2.0-1.6-2.0 (outside-centre-inside) and rears 5.0-5.0-5.0.
Fronts were maybe slightly over inflated but over 37,000 your talking 0.1 or 0.2 PSI.
60% motorway driving with 100-130kg in the back.

Re: What tyre pressure would you use??
Thanks for that, they were very low. The plate gives a range of 30-36 for the front and 35-41 for the rear obviously on much narrower tyres ith higher profile and smaller wheels. I've gone for 32 at the front and 36 at the rear. Anyone think I should lower or higher it let me know.

36-41 rear
Just measured mine and they are 30/30 front 35.5/35.5 rear.
Maybe a little under inflated on the rear but with even wear I'm not complaining.

Re: What tyre pressure would you use??
It depends on the tyre size and profile. I run 40psi on the fronts which are 225/35/19
A friends rs6 runs 275/30/20 and they run 50psi. Much bigger and heavier car I know. A scirocco on standard 18's runs 40psi too.

Re: What tyre pressure would you use??
Interesting, what's your wear pattern like running 40psi. As you can see I did 37,000 miles at 30psi with only 0.4mm extra wear in the centre, showing I was over inflated at 30psi.

Ill get some tread depth measurements and let you know skipper. From the naked eye they look perfectly even.Doc wrote:Interesting, what's your wear pattern like running 40psi. As you can see I did 37,000 miles at 30psi with only 0.4mm extra wear in the centre, showing I was over inflated at 30psi.
