Need advice on fitting steering wheel please guys

I have now got all the parts I need to fit a mk5 golf multifunction wheel and I will hopefully be giving it a go in the next few days ,but what I need to know is once i fit every thing , is the van going to be safe to drive to be able get it coded i have heard on here somewhere that you lose power steering and the dash lights up like a christmas tree

Got all my bits on just disconnect the battery , still need it coding!!!!

Mine ran when I fitted the mfsw and the high line swcm without it been coded in

Longman thanks for the reply Did it affect the power steering and did you get a load of lights on the dash ?
