central locking conector
I'm having trouble with my drivers side central locking, when i bought the van it would only lock with a key and when i stripped the door my assumptions were right the connector had come off and was just dangling. What i thought would be a simple job of just reconnecting it had turned into a game of chess. Ive checked the pins etc but for some reason it just wont push onto the lock even taking out the rubber seal gives it no more room to snap on.

Re: central locking conector
Can you get the part number off the lock? Wondering if someone has changed the lock and put the wrong lock in.

Re: central locking conector
Actually from looking at your pic is the blue section shaped like a figure 8 slightly or just a rectangle?

Re: central locking conector
Might sound stupid and apologies for asking but have you tried it the other way round? When I stripped my door to replace the internal door cards for leccy window ones, the locking plugs are the same part but one goes on one way and the other the other. If I remember rightly it was a right tw@t to get on / off.

Re: central locking conector
My thoughts where that someone has changed the lock side of it as there is a bit butchery around the lock and missing screws from the door card. The blue connector is a rectangle with two curved sides. The wire side connector is the same internally but the outer sheath has only 1 curved side the other is a flat edge, it also has a sliding clip lower down near the rubber seal.

Re: central locking conector
stumpymark - there is a retaining clip at the top of the connector so im assuming there is only 1 way to plug it on, unless you mean the wire has a plug at each end and it should be turned round?

Re: central locking conector
I don't know then mate, I'm no expert but know mine was a tw@t to get on and off, but I didn't take my door lock assy out which made it more awkward. Is it worth comparing part numbers between drivers side and passenger side lock assemblies?

Re: central locking conector
Is it me, or does the lock side have 8 pins but connector side has 10, if this is the case from the pin layout the two plugs won't ever fit together properly. I would say someone has put the wrong part in

Re: central locking conector
I hadn't noticed the amount of pins but looking at it now its obvious someone has replaced the lock with the wrong part. Ill have a look at the part number on the passenger side to confirm but it looks like a new lock mech is needed.
Thanks for the help lads off to ebay again!
