Why don't VW import Caddy Life's?????
Just come back from Spain and was blown away by number of Caddy Life's over there. They are exactly what I'm after and surely VW could bring them over here to compete with other window vans? Bummer!!

They look brilliant, saw a couple of really nice ones with tinted windows and nice wheels. Really wish we had them over here!!

They use to, but clearly didn't sell enough. The edition 30 one is nice, but the UK only got the basic van version.

I thought it was down to tax in the UK - the window van is not VAT recoverable, which makes it a very expensive option over here. You can buy a normal Touran for the same price.
Not sure how they are classified in Europe - but judging by how many there are over there it most be beneficial to buy one.

I understand what you're saying, but Frenchies bring over Citroen Bermingo, Renault Can'tdo and Peugeot Partner (yeehah!), so why aren't VW in on the action?phanson wrote:I thought it was down to tax in the UK - the window van is not VAT recoverable, which makes it a very expensive option over here. Re: Why don't VW import Caddy Life's?????
VAT isn't redeembale on a Maxi Life etc - only Kombi's and panel vans in the UK - the VAT was included in the selling price is all. You just didn't see it or pay it as a separate cost.
I think the reason VW don't do the wndow van is exactly as I said - the French crap wagons are cheap to start with whereas a Caddy is a very expensive option. Then when you consider a (leaf sprung) Caddy window van is the same money as a Touran (which would have proper suspension and better fitment levels etc) it's a bit of a non-starter.
You'd have to be a hard core Caddy fan to pay for one new - so the 2nd hand market goes begging.
If we could just get Johnny Foreigner to drive on the proper side of the road we'd be fine
