Heated seats
Swapping the seats in the caddy soon. The ones I've brought have some connectors under them.
Presuming one if them is heating.
Any one got a part list of stuff you'd need to do it.
And a guide to do it or willing to help out?
Cheers Scott

Re: Heated seats
Hi Scott,
I'm in the process of doing this - what seats do you have?
I have them from an Audi A5 SLine...
I have the seats working with electric - I have them heating up (although no granular control until the switch turns up!)
It's a really fun project - if you can post up some pics of your connectors - I can probably help you with the info you require.
Cheers,
Murray

Re: Heated seats
Murray what switches have you used and have you made your own looms up? I have the same seats as you but have not wired them up yet but now the weather is on the turn it would be nice to get them going. Have you wired up the lumbar support aswel? Any info appreciated.

Re: Heated seats
Hi Brad,
I have the following looms:
Yellow = Airbag
Red = Seatbelt Related Melarky (seatbelt 'in' sensor, weight on seat sensor'
Green = Seat Electrics
Black = Heated Seats
I'm @ work - but I'm sure it's that way round
I'm on holiday next week - but will be doing it on the 26th + 27th October - I'm going to chop the wires and just use a Bullet connector - as I'm not going to be putting this into the Canbus network!
I'm also experimenting with the Heated Seats stuff - I can get them on FULL - but want a variable switch, so have one from a Sharan I will try...
Also - I'm just going to run a fat cable on a switched relay to power everything (Driver + Passenger seats + heating) - that should keep it relatively simple.
I can post up some details later - but from memory:
BROWN = Negative
Redish = Positive
Just run a 12v feed to those and ALL the seat functions work - lumbar support, up/down height, quick release seat down - slide back/forward...
If you just want that - then it's a real simple job
Don't worry if you connect it up the wrong way either - it just means the controls are reversed - freaked me out a little :p
But the seats are amazingly comfy - and just the rear lug needs nipping off with either a hacksaw or angle grinder (my choice!)
Also - just make sure you use HIGH TENSILE STEEL BOLTS - it's worth making sure they have at least 8.8 on the top or even 12.8 (my choice) - as this it what keeps your seat in the car! It's worth spending a few quid on PROPER (not Chinese cheese) bolts - for that extra piece of mind
I also got paranoid and GLUE GUNNED the Airbag connector up - so nothing could short it... A balloon would be a cheaper and more pragmatic option, but I had no balloons - I did have a new Glue Gun though :p
Anyway - let me know what info you need and I'll post up tomorrow.
To the Original Poster - I have the wiring diagram for that on my VCDS disc - if you need it? Your connectors are different to mine...

Re: Heated seats
Murray thanks for that. A very detailed response and saved me a lot of working out. I have been looking on eBay for a heater control panel with heated seats and no air con but they never come up but would also need to make looms and have coded so may just run a cable to by pass can bus but would still like some switches that look oem. Would be interested in seeing a couple of pics of yours fitted when you get it done.

Re: Heated seats
Are you after oem fitting? or simply to get them working
If oem you'll need a vw loom for it
If you just want them to work simply cut off the heated seat connection and run a switched, fused 12v supply to the wires

Re: Heated seats
I'd like it to be oem. But I guess I'll need the controls and loom?
Any Idea on how much they'd cost? And which ones?
If I did it this way would it just be a case of removing old and reconnecting new?
Cheers dave

Re: Heated seats
Doc is your man to ask really, I've not looked into it that much. Pretty sure someone on here will of done it in the past but you'll need:
Heater controls with in built seat controls, probably ebay £50
Loom? might need making or kufatec do one http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/volksw ... -vw-golf-5
Unsure if its plug and play or needs VCDS to activate it all
