If you have DSG, its just a matter of adding the proper steering wheel.
Adding paddles to a non multifunction wheel is not possible.

Do you know how much VAGCOM or whatever set up is needed?

I don't often feel the need to shift - but it would be nice. Not to mention looknig well trick!

If all is fitted correctly there should be no more than 5 mins VCDS programming required.

Same wheel with paddles is a straight swap. Don't think there is programming needed either.

Sorry to revive an old thread but can somebody point me in the direction of which steering wheel control module I’ll need and what wheel for a retrofit on a 2008 1.9 dsg?

Cheers
