Has anyone ever changed their horn? I find the stock horn to be a little wimpy sounding. Any recommendations?

I just chuckled when I saw this post. The very first thing my missus said about my new caddy was just how "feminine" the horn was

I will be watching this thread with baited breath for someone to give you (us) an answer

My brothers Touran is as weak so an upgrade will need to come from somewhere else. I assume its because it's single tone that makes it sound so pathetic whereas my Golf has twin tone and sounds much better. Would it be as simple as fitting the twin horns from another model? Would we have extra wiring or electrical upgrades to do also?

If thats a truck horn or ship horn it'll need compressed air or steam to operate it i guess?

These are very loud, had them fitted to a motorcycle, they made people jump when used.

A mate of mine had truck horn with air tank in the back of his Astra van, middle of Plymouth on a busy hot day..... People jumping everywhere.

I keep looking at changing the horn and it would be easy to run dual horn.

Is that a legitimate copy of the Stebel Nautilus?

Not sure if its legit, mine was an original but you can't seem to get them any more. Noticed Fiamm are doing a Nautilus horn that also looks very similar.

Ha ha, I laughed to myself when I saw "more aggressive horn".

When I first got my Caddy, I went to pick up my mate, and when I used to horn to get the attention of someone I know, me and my mate just looked at each other and burst out laughing.

My mate who has a T4 has a yankie doodle horn, and I have purchased a Dixie horn for my T4. The Caddy however is keeping its wimpy horn.

Mk5 gti has a decent "get the Geoff outta the way fool" noise to it. Should get one cheap enough.

That copy looks pretty good. Found a few links here in Germany as well. And the sound is pretty decent:
