I lost all pressure in clutch and it stayed on the floor after a motorway drive of 30mins, I managed to park it up for couple hours and it was fine again.
On way home same thing lost all together but came back after about 15 mins.
If I drive around town it's fine???
Do I need a new clutch or could it be the cylinder
Clutch help

Re: Clutch help
I had this very same situation on my last caddy (58 plate 1.9Tdi).Craig0311 wrote:I lost all pressure in clutch and it stayed on the floor after a motorway drive of 30mins, I managed to park it up for couple hours and it was fine again.

Local garage said it was the cylinder, replaced it, three days later it was back in for a new clutch and flywheel.
Did it really need a new cylinder? .........I will never know.

Re: Clutch help
Hi, you will find it's the slave cylinder in the bell housing. When your on a run it will loose pressure, when your using the clutch a lot around town that keeps the pressure up. I would also check the fluid level as if this is low it could cause a similar problem.

Re: Clutch help
Hi had the same problem to,if you google , it points towards the master or slave cylinder,i took it in to vw in cornwall and they said it's the master that had gone,i asked them to do the slave aswell as alot of people say the other cylinder would fail within a few weeks.when i picked it up they had only replaced one cylinder as they were sure they had sorted it out.drove 200 miles back up north came off the slip road, geared down and the clutch peddle stuck to the floor again .Took it to my garage who said the slave had gone, and advised me to replace the clutch while everything was out.In the mean time i rang the garage down south and told them what had happened,to be fair they asked me what i wanted in order to resolve the situation, and to be fair they refunded the labor cost,i was happy to pay for the part. If i were you i'd get the clutch done aswell if you've got a good few miles on the clock, but your garage should point you in the right direction if there any good.

Re: Clutch help
Further update took caddy to local vw specialist who can't find a fault, WTF, anyway he had suggested replace master cylinder to see if that works if not the slave and if not that the clutch ??? He has said that it might not even be any of them?? What else could it be if not them
