Tony, it a capable of dealing with it, but like any vehicle, it won't be at it's best when flat out fully laden. A Discovery might weigh 2.3 tonnes, and once it's towing another 3.5 tonnes it will still cope, but it's not optimal.

The rules might be inconvenient/stupid/irritating/bullshit, but they are what they are.

Sorry rubbish was Probely the wrong word, but comparing a v10 touareg and landrover discovery are not really run of the mill cars weight wise,, And yes there are plenty of them about but there not exactly run of the mill family saloon or hatchback at over 2 ton

The old E60 BMW BMW was approx 1800kg, a tank of fuel (70kg), two passengers, approx 150 kg conservatively and your easily over 2000kg. And there are shit loads of those on the road. 2 tonnes isn't a lot for a mid/large premium family car these days.

Which is why I bought a Caddy Maxi Life, all the space without the speed limits. I'm surprised the maxi life isn't more popular, you get a lot more kit for your money, compared to most used vans. (I guess most vans are bought VAT free)

12m over will be 3 points and a fine of £100. There's a small chance you could opt to go on a driving course to avoid the points.
I've only ever been done once for speeding and that was way back, I was doing 34 in a 30 apparently, the new wheels I had put on had messed with my speedo.

On average speed cameras are set at 10% over plus 2mph so at 68 on a duel carriageway and you'll likely get off, 69 and you'll get done.

@chis9968 I’d fight it out if I were you. Them vans are not accurate some have even been proven to be preset to catch as many as there quota is set for. You have a legal right to ask for a copy of the calibration certificate for the camera van used that caught you. Everything these days is logged van used who was driving etc was the guy using the equipment even trained to do so was his training up to date etc . The van will be fitted with a tracker so there’s no way of them using another vehicles certificate. I’m sure there was a documentary on these vans it’s not even police officers who are in them.

Here’s some info below from direct gov website on speed limits etc but I’m sure all our Caddy’s fall under car driven van . Ie 70 on dual carriageway and Motorways and where ever there is a white sign with a black line.

There is a lawyers in Glasgow(not ideal for yourself worth a call for advice ) they specialise with stuff like this I’m sure the first 10 min call is free but don’t quote me on that .
