After Market Air Con

Post by awesomeo »

Hey Guys

I am looking for somewhere that can install either OEM aircon or a good aftermarket setup.

Has anyone ever installed the OEM parts them self's before?

Any advice would be great!

Thanks

The parts cost alone is in the 1000s brand new. Someone recently said they had been quoted £2800 to have it fitted but not sure if that was brand new/2nd hand oem parts or aftermarket. I'd also be interested in having it retrofitted. I try and keep an eye out for some of the bigger parts on eBay and Dr Dent on here had climate retrofitted by a company but I forget the name. They used Tiguan parts I think.

It would be great to find out. Currently looking at 2.0 Caddys and the vans with out air con are far cheaper. But air con is on my list of things to have so it would be good to find a solution. I wonder if the existing loom already has the connections on it..

When you say far cheaper, how much cheaper are you seeing? I struggle to imagine it'd be cheaper to retrofit air con than buy a van fitted with it from factory.

Using genuine parts is about the same. You'd be amazed at the list, it's not just a new heater box and control panel. If you knew what you were looking for, I'm sure some shrewd Ebay buying and doing the install yourself would be half that.

Air con was at the top of my list. really love it. I would sell your van and get one with air con, can't belive retro fit is an option.

I will have to keep on searching for one with aircon then. For some reason all the good 2.0's with air con are in Scotland!
