As per topic, my 2009 van was only supplied with the standard key and no remote.
I have just opened the key and there is a small glass capsule in there, which am I right in assuming, it is the immobiliser transponder.
What I would like to know is if I could buy a key and swap transponder over to the remote key?
I believe the programming of the remote function is easy to do and can be done without the use of any software.
Thanks in advance
Ben
Can you swap immob chip from standard key to remote?

It can be swapped yes as long as you don't break it getting it out
You'll need vcds to code new remote rf key

Cheers Bandit
I was hoping I could programme the remote part myself like I did with my A4, so it would just be a simple job. I should have known that nothing is simple nowadays!!
Any ideas how I would find out what keyfob part number I would need? I have called TPS for a price, the lad I know was off, and the other lad wouldn't tell me the part number!
Cheers

Call vw and ask them, usually they will tell you if the van has a remote part number. If not maybe change the convenience module for one that has. I can get your part number if you pm vin and reg if there is an aftermarket one available, which there must be as i made a key for another 2011 van recently.
