Van re classified under 2 tonne!
I'm surprised DVLA didn't ask for any supporting docs to back up the new load carrying figures.
Did you just send this and your V5 to DVLA and hey presto?.

Re: Van re classified under 2 tonne!
Both my caddys are listed as car derived vans and have no weights listed in any parts of the v5 so does that mean it doesn't have to do the lower speed limits?

Couple of questions:
Was the form they sent you a VTG10 - Details of Notifiable Alterations or Application for Change of Plated Details of a Goods Motor Vehicle or Trailer or Application for Design Weight Certificate.
Which department did you write the letter to in the first place? Was it VOSA?

Re: Van re classified under 2 tonne!
VTG10 is a VOSA form, not DVLA. Also, the 'G' in VTG stands for goods, which to VOSA is >3500kg GVW and one which is covered by the goods vehicle plating and testing regulations. So, I doubt it was a VTG10. Mind you DVLA are so incompetent, there's no saying what they've done or that if each of us does exactly the same, that it will produce the same results!!

Kinda odd that there are so many variations? Would have thought that type approval would have seen them all the same
