fix for the side loading door catching on rear wheels?
as above I'm running bentley wheels and as a result the side door catches on them, does anyone have a fix? thought bout perhaps a caddy cross hinge as surely it needs to clear the wider arches??

Re: fix for the side loading door catching on rear wheels?
Bigharty and dan@biali both have the cross kit fitted to there vans and I'm pretty sure they haven't had to change the sliding door in any way so I wouldn't think the cross hinge is any different to standard. One option that I think has been done is to space the rail out towards the rear with washers so the door slides open on a bit of an angle, only problem you will have is if you have a rail cover fitted, might make it look a bit odd with it not sitting flush to the panel. How much are you catching by?

I run 8.5 x 19 et 35, I spaced the side rail out a little with washers, ( 3 I think ) sliding door opens ok, touches slightly, if I removed the carpet a ply lining on the inside of the door I recon it wouldn't touch at all. I have side rail cover fitted too and that sits flush. There's a few guys on here done the same mate.

Re: fix for the side loading door catching on rear wheels?
Got similar problem with mine running 8.5, due to axle alignment wheel on sliding doorside sticks out a bit more. I made up a 5mm spacer with rail cover on. Just clears but had to take ply lining off door though.

Could you have the back of the wheel machined so they fit properly?

Prob is mate the offset makes them stick out 4mm over standard then they are a 9 inch wide rim, not sure what the rim width is standard but I'd guess at 6.5-7 inch

Re: fix for the side loading door catching on rear wheels?
My left wheel sticks out 25mm while the right sticks out 10mm. I'm told this is normal althouth not the same on every vehicle (don't really understand unless the axles are welded up by a blind man). Anyway I can't open the door with my bandies. My wife took one look (laughed) and said why don't you cut a bit out of the inside of the door. I spoke to Anthony at Autostyl who said this was possible and something he did regularly with T1/T2s when narrowing beams and tubbing wheel arches (if that means anything) I'm now waiting to get it booked in so we'll know for sure soon. Woody
That's as far as the door goes. Thought about spacers but can't see how the rail cover won't stick out wierdly.

Re: fix for the side loading door catching on rear wheels?
Anyone shed any more light on this subject?
I have a wheel that catches and that's with all lining off the inside of the door. Home made spacers (washers) may be the way I'll go as not too fussed about fitting a rail cover.
