Where to find the mythical VW "Ventilation Grille"?

Post by anoneamus »

Looking for the sliding door ventilation grilles for camping in the Caddy. They appear as an accessory in pretty much every (European) Caddy brochure I've seen, and they're mentioned in the user manual (MY 2015, Cross Caddy, South Africa). However, Volkswagen SA has not managed to track them down yet, and from my own (online) investigation (reading the German Caddy forums) I've managed to get a/the part number and some pictures of them. It seems that the German guys have found that they need to be ordered directly from VW Poland. Maybe someone else knows something? I am aware of the German aftermarket versions, and I guess I'll resort to getting one of those if I can't find the VW version...

VW Part Number: KDP BOW 001 92

I went to the VW dealer and showed them the manual, gave them the (Polish) part number and asked them to find them for me. It's says it's an option in the manual, so give me the option! They've been investigating for a while now, but nothing yet. It's better (for me in South Africa) if VW imports the part themselves as then I don't need to pay shipping or import duties. If I ever get to being able to order one I can try to get some for you too. Alternatively, I have all of the information needed to order from VW Poland directly, but AFAIK they won't ship outside of Europe. If you want to go that route maybe you could order me some too!

Bumping this as it's almost a year later and I'm still no closer to finding these things!

I can't help you with it, I never saw it here in Belgium.
I would not place it in my caddy, but I like it!

The VW ones are made for the 'Tramper' model which is no longer manufactured. I was never able to find any source for the VW parts, and so eventually went with the aftermarket ones. They're actually better than the VW ones, as they're made out of metal and not plastic.

I bought these online from VanEssa in Germany. They're pretty expensive. Now that I have them, I can provide more details on them, they're manufactured by Hülsberg KG. Here is a link to their English brochure. Maybe there's a way to deal with them directly.

It's the same German one. They're the only ones available. You can find them in quite a few places online, for more or less the same price (70-80EUR).

Normally yes, but in this case the aftermarket is better quality than the original. The originals you could break off (and into the car) with your fingers, with these you'd have to use a tool, and as much force as breaking a window.

Also you don't drive anywhere with these things on, they're just to provide ventilation while you're camping so not a super big deal what they look like if they do the job... :)

Having said all that I would still probably buy the originals if I could find them, but I've tried for years now and haven't been able to.

Hi!

I am now looking for a ventilation Grille for my Caddy (released in late 2016). Could you direct me to a website? Thank you.

Cheers
