Post by Chrisstephen84 »

Hi there I'm jus new to this site as jus recently purchased a caddy van, the gearbox doesn't feel great and was looking to do the 6 speed conversion from a mk4 golf 130 bhp, was jus wondering if anyone can help me out, on what needs to be changed and if there's any complications with it, any help would be appreciated.

u would need to change
flywheel and clutch
starter motor and wireing plug
u need 6 speed drive shafts and fit caddy cv joints on them
gearbox mount bracket thats on the 6 speed box
and the bleed valve from the 6 speed aswell
and all bellhousing bolts
gear cable mounts that bolt to gearbox
and you will need the 2 quick release gear linkage ends that fit to the selector shafts

what engine do u have in your caddy and what gearbox u looking at needs to be an 02m model gearbox to fit to a bls caddy engine

make sure you read new members section fully so u can gain access to full site t see more on this topic

Me too with the Drw box, the only thing I miss is being able to trickle along in traffic like I could with the 5 speed, find first can be slightly too quick sometimes. That and not having cruise control in 6th is a pain.

Mines the now is a caddy with a bls engine in it, the gearbox is from a mk4 130 bhp asz I'm guessing that this is the 02m gearbox, what drive shafts and c.v joints are used, as the mark 4 c.v joints have a but on the end and caddy has a bolt on them? Does caddy c.v joints fit on the mk4 driveshafts?

Hi everyone, I’ve just put the ASZ lump in my caddy with a BMM 2.0 turbo and I’m having trouble with the driveshafts now what has people used when doing this conversion to the 6 speed 02M?

Cheers

I have an O2Q gearbox, would the 2.0 tdi MK5 golf shafts fit or will I have to swap the CV joint over?

New, it's likely no longer possible to buy a gearbox for this.
Used go for anything from £250 to £600 depending on condition/mileage/warranty/sellers greed.

If you can do the labor yourself and your original gearbox is working and sellable, you can do the whole job for not much money once you sell your original box, starter, drive shafts etc..

For reference, it appears both 02M and 02Q 6 speed boxes are available as I just had a glance at the parts database and neither show as discontinued. The price new is £2800
