Steering wheel off centre

As above, my wheel is off centre when the wheels are straight. However, going full left to full right has the wheel in the same position at full extension.

Tracking? Or get the wheel off and realign?

I'd take wheel off and realign, has it been taken off at any point?

no no no no....... leave the steering wheel where it is, and go get the tracking done.
lots of safety issues regarding steering wheel removal. there's absolutely no need to do it unless someone has tacken it off without your knowing.

Well, it has a touran dash so at some point the wheel has been off.
Lock to lock and the wheel faces down both sides.
Tracking I feel. Will update when inspected. I don't fancy getting the wheel off. My Touran is awaiting a cruise control stalk, had the wheel off before to inspect. PITA.

I've had my tracking done twice and wheel isn't straight, grates on my OCD like you wouldn't believe. And they even used the wheel clamp between steering wheel and seat!!!

First thing I would do is remove the airbag and check the marks on the wheel and the hub are aligned.

If they are then start looking at other issues.

I had tracking and alignment done and was pretty much told that "all VW's are like that" Won't be going back to that place again!

In my case I needed to recalibrate my steering angle sensor with VCDS .
