What is the neatest way of holding and charging your iphone?

Post by 18ME » Thu Jun 04, 2015 1:07 pm

I want to be able to see my phone whilst in the van and also be able to charge at the same time, the only connections I can see are the 12V cig lighter socket and the jack point under the sat nav screen, what have people done?

Have a look at the Brodit range of holders, they do basic, passive and active versions and are great quality.

I tried various options and found tetrax magnets by far the best option for me.

I use a Spider Grip that clips on the air vent. Held my iPhone 4s no probs and now my 6 without issue.
Its all about the corners. Anyone can go fast in a straight line.

Thanks for all the suggestions :)

The Brodit seem pricey for what I need but probably neater than most and not really a fan of the vent holders. I've had a look at the ones on ebay and may go for one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Excelvan-Univ ... 259a1370a4 but quite like the magnet idea, not seen these before. Are they really strong enough to hold the phone when you hit bumps in the road? not sure where I'd put it though as it obviously sits flat against the surface you place it on, where's yours?

I just bought an iOttie iTap magnet holder.

It holds the phone really well. The weakest point will be how well my vents stay in place. They're doing fine at the moment.

Likely not as good as the Brodies (and no built-in charging), but really convenient. Just put your phone near it and it snaps on solid. It works great with my thinner plastic case on the iPhone 5c, but it didn't work through the folded-back book-style case I also have. You get two metal plates as options. Use a small circular one if you want to stick it on the outside of the case, or stick a larger one to the phone itself, under the case. I haven't stuck mine - it's just held against the phone by the case.

Worth a look.

Brodit!

Change the phone side when you change phone, and change vehicle side when you change vehicle! Brilliant, proper holders designed specifically for your handset and car.

Tetrax are OK, if you don't mind having a magnet stuck permanently to your phone... Had one for a while, myself.
