I am looking for a recommendation for a VW mechanic in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Recently I purchased a 2010 model 1.9 maxi with 100,000 on the clock. It looks well cared for, drives nicely and I have no suspicions that anything is amiss, but, I wouldn't mind someone with mechanical know-how and familiar with Caddys having a look at it just for peace of mind.
I had a Google-around and there are a few VW specialists in the area - some seem to pitch at performance, others at restoration, all do servicing. You can't beat a personal recommendation though, so if any of you know a place sympathetic to (older) Caddies, please speak up!

I'm hoping to go too.

I was going to entre my van again this year however as I'm selling my house I've not had the time to do the preparation I'd normally do before entering a competition.

Do come and say Hi and introduce yourself if you see my van there.

I had a bit of a look at he thread which chronicles the build of your van - amazing work and I am looking forward to seeing it.

Yep, I’ll keep an eye out and will definitely pose some questions.
Here’s a starter - what tips have you got for suppliers of 4 way stretch carpet. I’ve just started sound proofing, and that’s going to come up soon.
Thanks

Thanks Horace. How much was your 4 way stretch carpet if you don't mind me asking?

Yes Walnut still some I am in Upper Mt. Gravatt have a LWB 2017 series 4 Comfortline with many additions for disability. I had to remove the 3rd row of seats and seatbelts to put in mobility scooter lift so the seat and belts are brand new and just stored in my garage (sell cheap).
Been lowered by 75mm

Sorry it was few years ago. I have no idea.

I only bought a small amount from them to finish the bed. I didn't bother with doing the van itself because the motor trimmer only charged me $500 more to do the job than it would have cost me to do it myself.

They also did it in a day where as it would have taken me several.

It’s now 2019 but count me in. I have a 2006 Caddy Life Camper 1.9l TDI 77kW, silver grey. Had it since new and now up to about 250,000kms. Just wondering what life expectancy for this Diesel engine? I’ve had no major issues with the car. I’ve never even opened up the bed, never opened the annexe bag, never used the table and chairs! I’ve used it for work and now am retired, so no money and the need to do as many repairs myself. I’m a Building Surveyor, not a mechanic, so I am a “mechanical moron”.

Hey Olliekin, I haven't heard to much about the 1.9l diesel but I have just purchased one so I will be doing a bit of research. I'm an ex mechanic also so I may be able to give you a hand with

Cheers Walnut 417! I just installed a new blower resister pack to rectify blower only working on setting #4. Pretty easy, but still a major mechanical step up for me. Next repair is to try and fix rear window washer (doesn’t work and water under back door so I guess that the water tube is off or leaking). I don’t like the idea of taking off door cards/trims but it has to get done. I also want to sand and repaint the drivers side door armrest that houses the electric window controllers-same problem-remove door card!
