Speedo/Clock Colours

Post by yellow »

Hi Guys

New to the forum, just picked up 08 plate Caddy 104TDi with 4500m on the clock.

Looking around the forum I notice that clocks are backlit blue with red needles. Is this a mod as mine are backlit red and would like to change.

Ordered some LED strips for the back after looking at Doc's post.

Will get pics up next week.

Cheers

Craig

Thanks guys

Strange, its a 104 for sure!

Doc out of interest what age is your friends sdi?

Do you think its possible to change the bulbs or film behind the clock to illuminate blue?

If not ill maybe need to source either another set or touran dials(whats the difference with them over caddys a lot of people on here seem to have upgraded)

Cheers

must be a new thing! be good if someone posts some pictures up?
When I had the clocks out it looks like you have to remove the backs of the clocks to get to the leds
I've seen a few ebay sellers selling leds for the mk5 which the caddy/touran is based on so it must be possible try http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/30-Blue-LED-Switc ... 0317001739

Thanks for all the info guys will look into getting this changed to blue!

Will get some pictures up start of next week.
Its a 2008 104 caddy in off road grey. Has appearance and electric pack and air con.
Was given a good clean and polish today.
Few things I have noticed and not sure if anyone else is bothered by it

1. Brake and clutch pedal are set very high in comparison to the accelerator( i.e you need to lift your foot when coming off the throttle and onto the brakes)
2. When looking in the rear view mirror the positioning of the bulkhead divide means visibility is quite limited.

Nothing major just my two pence worth. Other than that think its a cracking van.

Hello everyone, My 08 caddy has the red dials and it really bugs me,seeing as the radio is blue. to change this do you replace the complete dash or just the red bulb inside the dash? I was told the dash has something to do with the immobiliser and cant be changed, any info would be grateful. :?:

I wouldn't be goin changing the entire dash in a year old van just for clock colours, I think a LED swap is your best bet. Gonna be tricky though.

Was looking at how easy it would be to change the led's this morning.I wouldn't like to attempt it.There are about six around each dial and you would have to virtually strip the clocks to get near them.

I was just thinking about this and maybe the colour is actually in the "see through" part of the dial rather than the LEDs, I may be wrong but worth a look.
