Oh yes so it was, I did not read the post date. Anyway the cheapest I could find it for is £87.44 from Battery Megastore. That battery seems the best one available Tommy.

Yep I paid £94.95 for the bosch 096 battery placed today all in. From Tayna, I could have saved pennies else where but Tayna offered next day delivery as default, So decided to get if from them.

Received battery today.

Have popped into TPS and picked up the 3 parts

Battery box
Trim - 3C0-915-335
Trim - 3C0-915-336-A
Cover - 3C0-915-443-A

Battery before picture

Took the battery out and put in the first trim part: Trim - 3C0-915-336-A
ALL of the parts fit directly onto the base section already on your van..
Be careful I broke the clip at the back of the trim part- tried to go back into tps and ask them if they had another on the shelf - They didn't so I just put it in anyway. You do have 2 clips on the left and right aswell so don't think it will be that much of an issue.

Put new battery in. remember to slot the bottom of the battery into the base attached to the van.. battery slots in left to right. (hold battery down on the right)
Push battery all the way to the right.
Screw down the battery clamp which clamps it to the van - bottom left of this picture which you cant see - but the same clamp you removed to remove old battery.

Once battery clamp screw down, Put in the second trim part: Trim - 3C0-915-335
Just not where the cable entry for the POSITIVE Connection is so you can fit it properly. (the cable entry is a slot at the bottom, so adjust before you put trim part in to line up. Clip in this trim part to the base along with the other trim part.

Take note from this picture - the negative cable entry. I actually removed this to make it easier to fit. Clamped it to the battery then screwed it back on the the van body

I WOULD REMOVE the NEGATIVE CABLE COMPLETELY AT THE BEGINNING IF I WAS TO DO IT AGAIN. To make it easier to fit and flex the cable in the right direction. Right until the point the lid of the battery cover is on. Then secure the NEGATIVE cable back to the Van Body.

This picture nots where the POSITVE Cable is entered into the trim.

Put battery lid on - Make sure everything is ok and away you go!

Looks very nice I must say so myself, better than the previous cloth one.

@Barbel330 heres your answer!! YES you can

I am very excited to have done this post - First time I feel as if Ive actually contributed to the forum whilst taking alot of info from it!
Thank you all! :D 8)

What size battery was in the original picture? I have a 2014 caddy maxi with a 1.6tdi and the current battery is a 027 size, wanted to know if a 096 like yours will fit straight in?

Thanks. I’ve google your battery and it’s the same size as the one that’s in mine so the slightly bigger one like you got should also fit.

your battery is an 027, its the smaller one fitted to early caddys

your battery tray is designed for the larger 096 batteries :)

im trying this one next https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 1232380774

I never said it was a 096, I was saying that I don't know what the battery code is, as in I couldn't see it. As it isn't clear on the top of the battery writing, probably because it's from the factory fitted. (My picture)

If you read the rest of the post, you'll see that I have fitted a 096 battery, replacing my factory fitted battery.

Well worth upgrade IMO.

Hi folks,

I have one of the exide 61Ah batteries installed. It has gone flat a number of times although I have been told by the RAC and others that the battery and alternator are testing okay. The indicator on the battery is also showing OK.

I would like to upgrade the battery to the bosch 77Ah unit mentioned in this thread (regardless of the battery condition). However before doing so what can I do to rule out any other issues such as the drain coming from elsewhere ?

I have an ex BG van so wondering if there is perhaps something installed in the vehicle that might be causing the battery to drain ?

Thanks
