Re: 1.6 TDI - How reliable
Hi,
I have another problem with my caddy 1.6Tdi 110000 km.
During my come back from holiday I had sudenly no more power and a warning signal: the blinking coil on the dashboard
With my OBD 2 scan I can read P0201 Injector Circuit/open Cylinder 1...
Can anyone help me?? Have anyone documentation to diy the replacement?
Here is a video of my problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwE-tEyJ4xI

Re: 1.6 TDI - How reliable
Had my (converted disabled ) Caddy 2 years, only done 4700 miles and had two injector breakdowns in that time. Maybe short journeys and little mileage are contributing to the problems - but I won't be getting another diesel Caddy again perhaps go for the 1.4 FSI. Very disappointed with the engine and worry about going out in it wondering if I'll be going home on a low loader AGAIN.

Re: 1.6 TDI - How reliable
My recent expense.
2011 1.6 Dsg - New DMF last year, 3 weeks ago new clutch pack, it was starting to slip when on the gas and last Monday I had gear selector and spanner flashing on the dash, still drivable however on inspection the mechatronics had thrown the fluid out of the breather vent - New Mechatronics needed, mileage is 108k, I was contemplating just selling the van for spares / repairs as the costs are starting to outweigh its value, but the van is really mint so it's getting one more chance !
One thing I have realised is that I want to buy another caddy this time I want a 2.0 tdi manual tho, I'm in a brand new transit custom hire van at the mo fully loaded with all the toys and boy it drinks fuel and tracks every bump in the rd and feels slow !

Re: 1.6 TDI - How reliable
I'm one of the unlucky ones..
Me and my dad bought 2011 and 2012 1.6s...
They ran fine until about 110k miles, then he had one injector die, and I had 2 die within a couple of weeks of each other.
I managed to get 4 used ones for £80 all in.
I now carry 2 spares, tools to change, and a vcds setup in the back because I just don't feel that I can trust it anymore.
Otherwise, it's been a lovely van, but I really wish I'd got the 2.0...

Re: 1.6 TDI - How reliable
I'm in a Vx combo sportive now and it's shite, tbh it's good to drive a variety of different vans because you realise just how nice the caddy is, the combo has 8k on the clock and does not drive as nice as my 108k

Re: 1.6 TDI - How reliable
5yrs old & 85k & touch wood no problems. Remapped at 82k to 150bhp with no reliability problems so far. Only do decent runs in it though so probably helps.
2014 CAYD 1.6tdi 150bhp, Darkside straight pipe, EGR & DPF delete, Custom cold intake with K&N 571s, 19" wheels, Pioneer/Kenwood & Vibe audio.
