I've spoken to mat on the phone and via email several times now. I'm just waiting for some technical information about shock absorber travel, valving and adjustments and a total cost. It may be that I buy the kit with out the shocks and get quantum to make my own spec shocks for it.
The reason I could not work out how it all bolted up was because in the show photo the axel brackets had been bolted on the axel on the wrong sides look at this photo mat sent me.
Shock mounting is inside the trailing arms not outside

Hi,

I'm Stef. The van in the picture with the kit fitted is my van, me and Matt have been working on this for a while now. We designed the kit so it could take either coilovers or air to keep costs to a minimum if the buyer ever decided to swap from one suspension type to another, this way you don't have to buy a complete new suspension set up.

Also, as far as we're aware this hasn't been done before to use coilovers.

Iv'e had it fitted to my van for a good few months and it works really well, I didn't think the difference would be as noticeable as it is but the kit really does tighten up the rear of the van when changing direction. Iv'e driven it hard and also used it for work moving engines etc. around and it has been faultless.

I'm going to be fitting a new zinc plated kit to my van shortly (as the kit wasn't plated in time for fitting) so will get lots of pictures for a fitting guide, I'll put them on here and also on my build thread which you can find here:

Also, the kit will be on display properly at Elsecar at the races on the 9th of April at Doncaster Race Course, we had this planned for Ultimate Dubs but as the coilovers didn't arrive in time we decided against displaying it fully built up with the struts missing.

If any serious customers would like to come for a road test then I'm more than happy to take you for a ride so you can try before you buy

Hi steff.
I've been talking to mat about it over the last few days.
lol I've been designing something similar my self but I was going to cortical mount the shocks in turrets up by the wheel arches.
Guess I won't bother going any further now lol.
From experience on my mk2 RS 2000 I can tell you that a well working 5 link set up over leaf springs is worth 20 to 30 miles an hr. on almost any corner.
I've driven my van not hard round corners and the sideways movement is massive at least 2 inches in total.
Mat told me they were not prepared to sell just the link kit with out the shocks and a firm price was not available just yet.
I'm very interested in the kit but was a little worried about the 73mm total shock travel length.
I'm not as low as you and have only cut 1 section off the bumpstop and still have 55 mm till I touches. I also have 165 mm from the top of the axel casing to the chassis just behind the bump stop.
I'm a bit too far to come for a road test as I'm down the Devon

Over the last feew days me and Mat have been trying to get prices sorted as lots of people are asking this and it's something that should have been sorted before Ultimate Dubs really.

As far as selling the kit without shocks, this is something we didn't want to do initially and the main reason being that if someone buys this kit and uses sub standard struts then it would make the overall feel of the kit less that what it should and then the kit possibly get negative press for the wrong reasons.
We have said that it's inevitable that some people will want to use their own struts for various reasons so we may as well let the kit go without struts and let the buyer sort them out to suit their needs.

I personally think the Caddy would have to have matching front & rears to get the complete feel of the kit, if you have good quality rear shocks and leave the fronts with budget coilovers / struts & lowering springs then it will effect the overall feel and then you're not getting the most out of what you have just paid for.

I have the bump stops fitted on mine (They're cut down) but I'm sure lots of people will run without them at all, especially the air guys to allow the extra drop.

lol I was worried about the shocks coming with the kit being less than my standards lol. I want to get quantum racing to make mine which I would have done if I made my own set up. They made the shocks for my RS and I have all the kit to strip them change the valving and re build them as the gas compartment is totally separate in the bottom.
I already have H&R rising rate springs on the front with full bilstein shortened struts so the front of mine is perfect with all the ajustable top mounts and polly ajustable bushes otherwise I would have been interested in the full kit.
I specialise in engine reconditioning and run my own business and do a fair bit of other engineering work as well.
To be honest my only concerns for my own needs are the amount of travel the shocks have ?? May be I can have a bit longer Ines as I'm not as low as you and the internal valving of theshocks as in the past I have always found anything other than bilstein shocks to have not enough rebound damping.
Even the bilsteins on the back of the caddy are not strong enough on the rebound but I put this down to the crappy 45 deg angle they are mounted at which only gets worse the lower you go reducing the work the shock can do.

So what's the benefit of this setup? what will it do which is better that flipping your axel?

The link set up will be 100s times better than an axel flip.
In actual fact the axel flip does very little apart from lowering the van and as the Center of gravity is lower u get some handling improvement.

A 5 link set up improves handeling and feel by miles if it's set up right as the axel is firmly located to the body. So is set up properly you don't get lots of movement between the axel and body which causes the car to self steer in all the wrong directions for want of a better analogy
