Sliding door stops.

Post by Caver 68 »

Even though the latches on the sliding doors are pretty good at holding the door open, a combination of living on a steep hill (where parking is best achieved facing downhill) which means the doors occasionally slide shut when I don't want them to, and paranoia of having two young kids who don't get the concept of a guillotine, I'm wondering if there is an after market sliding door stop?

I drive mini-buses sometimes and they pretty much all tend to have some kind of safety lever. I can and probably will bodge something up but if there was a more attractive and dedicated bit of kit I'd appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

Thanks

I understand where you coming from as even with loading/ unloading stock this happens, The lock in clips are quite week maybe you can somehow increase the tightness/ resistance for this to hold the door better, Other alternative (an expensive one) is to fit electric sliding doors?

I'll look at the hinges tomorrow as it might be worth investigating tension adjustment.

I had the same problem on my Maxi, including the living on a hill. When you look at the stops, at the rear of the white plastic part is a circular bit. On mine, that bit had broken causing the issue. I just bought a replacement from vw. Iirc it was only a couple of torx screws and no more than a few minutes to do the job.

Same as me my maxi had week door stops, so I bought some from tps and when I removed them I could see they were split in half, when I first fitted the new stops I found I couldn't move the door they were so tight, but after a few weeks they got easier, now I don't have an issue ImageImage

I'll definitely look at getting newer stops. Still need to work on a way to stop inadvertent (child) closing. Cleats and cord it may have to be...

Thanks

Caver, the odds are the little ones won't have able to close it when you put the new stops in. Ive had mine on for 6 months and they still show how weak my workmates are...
