mine had to be changed at 47k luckily it was a vw approved used vehicle and was covered under warranty

That's your DMF mate.
57k isn't bad for one.
I've seen em go at 30k on my dads car.
Does a jingling/rattling or knocking noise appear when you lift off the clutch? And does it go away again when you depress the clutch?
The symptoms do seem to be classic to be honest.

And don't be fooled by vw reliability reputation.
They actually aren't any better than most manufacturers now.
The beauty is the following means you can get parts and fix them a little easier.
I've a Renault scenic for the family and done 50k in it without a single issue.
My vw has had 3 major failures in less miles. Similar age and miles.
Even the most reliable vw engine the "ALH" 90bhp lump had bad DMF and gearboxes too
