Fitting Front Fog Lights.

Post by bigfatolly »

2012 Caddy ,basic model.

I have just scored a set of fog lights from ebay with all the wiring, the switch etc.

Is it an easy job for a complete novice and is there a how to on here anywhere?

Will they need coding in?

And is there any way you can get them to come on as DRLs along with the headlight DRLs ?

The eBay sets are usually powered via a relay which you wire to the battery terminal, and an adapter attached to the light switch, so they are independent of the van lights control module and no coding is required. The trickiest part is feeding a wire through the bulkhead.

Using the fog lights as DRLs would be illegal as fogs can only be used when visiblity is poor (less than 100m) so setting them up in this way wouldn't be advisable anyway.

Here is a link to a topic about getting through the firewall with your wiring harness.
