Van needs a new starter motor. Was wonder how easy it is to get at on 2.0 SDi 2005. Anyone have a picture of where it's located.
Thanks

Re: Starter Motor
On front of gearbox under the airbox. 13mm and an 18mm spanner should have it sorted.
It'll also have a plug to remove.

Re: Starter Motor
Sorry that was for 1.9, assuming it's similar then, it's very easy

Re: Starter Motor
I've not done one on this particular model, but they're not normally too bad on vw diesels. They're generally towards the back of the gearbox.
Before you buy a motor, make sure it's not just the single wire to the solenoid that's broken. That's really easy to test by touching a wire from the battery to the terminal on the motor.

Sorry chaps, much as our 2k looks nice, I prefer my Mk2.

Turns out it was my start that was away. I have SDI and it's really easy to change out. Took me 30mins and down it all standing on the ground over the engine bay.Yeti wrote:I've not done one on this particular model, but they're not normally too bad on vw diesels. No need to jack the car up at all. There's one bolt that you need to get under the van from but it can be accessed very easy. Well.....providing the vans not lowered

Re: Starter Motor
Sounds same as the 1.9 then yeah.
Easy fix.
Glad it's sorted. A dodgy earth and stuff like that can be murder to find
