Face-lift maxi axle relocation and lowering
Fitted a vmaxx kit to my ex BG face-lift maxi and wasn't happy with the rear ride height at all.
With the face lift maxi the rear leafs have a welded location peg facing downward so standard axle relocation plates aren't suitable.
I removed the standard vmaxx bottom plates, filled the hole with a bit of 25mm steel bar to aid the drilling. I then drilled two 15mm holes, one 15mm from centre and one 20mm from centre (drilled the 2 holes so I had some adjustability).
I also drilled 2 extra holes in the rear spring hangers so I could get the van sitting a bit lower.
I refitted it all and used the 20mm from centre relocation hole and it was perfect for my set up.
Really easy to do and saved about £70 compared to other bottom plates that can be bought.
If anyone wants to know anything else let me know.

Re: Face-lift maxi axle relocation and lowering
Awesome work mate and brilliant thread, although I must admit this seems to have p!ss3d on my chips somewhat as I thought that a maxi went down on the rear without these issues. Iv'e just got the front end down on Bilstein B8's and H&R springs and I've got the darkside kit to lower the rear but haven't fitted it yet.

Re: Face-lift maxi axle relocation and lowering
I wasn't sure but really disappointed when I got it fitted, I've read a few posts that say the darkside kits don't suffer this but not sure as I've only experience of the vmaxx kit. Don't know why vmaxx don't supply the kit with extra offset holes drilled ???
Not seen the darkside kit but if it hasn't, might be an idea to drill some offset holes so when you do it if it's not right you're already on top of it. I had to dismantle mine and take it all round a mates house to use his pillar drill then reassemble it.
Good luck with it any way.

Cheers guys.
Interior next, but at a slower pace!
Going for a rear seat conversion, sound proofing and carpeting the whole rear end, looking forward to having a crack at it!
Will be trawling this forum for some info.

Re: Face-lift maxi axle relocation and lowering
Darkside website says that their kit doesn't require relocation, although the plates still have central holes in them and look completely symmetrical to me so I can't see how they are going to do the same job as what you've drilled

Re: Face-lift maxi axle relocation and lowering
Hi guys, I have the superlow rear axle flip kit from darkside in the rear with gaz shortened shocks and the rear axle sits further to the rear of the van?? I am on stock 15 inch steel wheels and the drivers side has rubbed through the wheel arch liner. I need to get it centred, would this thread work? Appreciate your help guys!

Re: Face-lift maxi axle relocation and lowering
Phone Darkside they will take a deposit from you and ship center plates next day to you and you ship the old ones back. Just gone through this with my maxi, and as of last week they had lots in stock.
