1.6 injectors
I have a 12 plate caddy 1.6, it's broken down twice in less than a year with injector problems. I am now left wondering if this is going to keep happening and if I can afford to keep the van (it's a business van) has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix ? Is it likely to just keep happening and costing me a fortune each time ? I really like the van but I can't afford to keep it long term if there is such a poor quality of reliability. I expected better of vw.

Re: 1.6 injectors
I've just replied to your first post, but you may as well ignore it now I've read this.
I presume you had the faulty injectors replaced?
The injectors are a common fault on the 1.6 but if you have replaced 2 then I'd be keeping the van, as you've spent good money on putting it right. If you purchase something else, you'll possibly be let down by one of that vehicles common faults. I have the same van and had it 2 years without it letting me down. Yours might be ok now for another 50,000 miles. A element of luck comes into it as well

Re: 1.6 injectors
Appreciate the reply from a fellow owner, I feel a bit better about it now . I have been really lucky, the recent breakdown was taken care of by VW main dealer , I complained to them and the head office and they replaced two injectors , with labour free of charge !!
The van is a 12 plate with just over 40k on the clock, the service manager said they will consider helping out owners of vw vehicles up to 5 yrs Old with service history,
So I can't complain cost wise, Iam just concerned that this is going to be an ongoing issue in the future ??
Plus I would love to know why the 1.6 engine has these well known problems but the 2.0 doesn't ??

Re: 1.6 injectors
I've got the 1.6 myself and had an injector go down about 6 months ago. Didn't realise until I read this that it's a common problem, I just put it down to bad luck. Would be interested to hear if anyone has anymore information on this?
