Injector clamp bolt torque?
Could anyone please confirm what the torque setting should be for an injector clamp bolt on my 2012 1.6tdi please? I've read 2 different things, 7nm + 180 degrees & 8nm + 270 degrees. I've googled it but can't find a definitive answer.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Injector clamp bolt torque?
I went for 7nm + 270 degrees . I had to clean the injector seat on two of mine as they had some carbon build up and was concerned about them not seating correctly . I still get some wetness around the top cover seals but seems to be oil and not diesel which I believe is common fault on this engine . The seals in the top cover are not an ideal design .Barbel330 wrote:Could anyone please confirm what the torque setting should be for an injector clamp bolt on my 2012 1.6tdi please? Re: Injector clamp bolt torque?
Thanks.
I'm currently waiting for a specialist to come and try to remove the bolt which snapped off on me yesterday This was a new bolt from VW and it snapped before it got to the 8nm I was told it should be, let alone the 270 degrees. I'm not a religious man but I might start praying when he gets here
If he can by some miracle get the bolt out, I'm going to try and get him to torque the new one down while he's still here

Re: Injector clamp bolt torque?
He got the bolt out!!!
Cost me a bit but well worth it rather than stripping the engine.
Does the fuel system need bleeding/purging after injector replacement?

Re: Injector clamp bolt torque?
Remove injectors and injector pipes disconnect all pipe work from front back and right hand side of the engine including the fuel rail which should just slide out injector bolts are spline m8 injector rail bolts spline m10 then unclip the top half of the timing cover then 6 t30 torques 2 left 2 centre and 2 right then you have to strip all the m6 10mm bolts to remove the cam bearing tops then you should have access with mole grips or needle nose pliers then reverse process and can bearing torques are 15nm and injector bolts are 10 nm if you don’t want angles

Re: Injector clamp bolt torque?

Re: Injector clamp bolt torque?
Just had my injector blow out on the motorway, when I looked under the bonnet the bolt clamp had snapped in the head. Got it recovered home and removed the injector fully to asses the full damage. Broken bolt and broken seal for the rocker cover.
By absolute luck the plannets must have aligned I drilled the bolt with a 4mm drill bit then stook a larger one on possibly 6mm and spun it in reverse. To my joy it spun straight out! Total time and cost 1hr and £30 on 2 new clamp bolts and seal....... Happy camper
