New to vag systems and the ex b.g caddys dash display seems a bit basic , by only having trip counter /clock and service interval indicator.
Seen a cheap vdcs lead n software priced up at just under £50 on ebay .
Will the cheaper versions work on my 2011 1.6 maxi and if so will I be able to update the dash display with any thing else (Mpg , codes ect) ?
After pressing the left hand button on the dash and scrolling past the "time adjust" flashing sequence ,this half moon and numerical value pops up on the screen above the service indicator...
What's the 419 stand for fellas ?

Re: Dash and vdcs updates
Don't buy a cheap VCDS lead as they are counterfeits. The seller will tell you not to update the software as Ross Tech (the owners) will disable the illegal counterfeit versions once they connect to the internet.
If you buy the genuine VCDS you get excellent support from Ross Tech.

RT support is ok, but anything off the beaten track and you get blank faces.
Anyway, i don't think you will be able to enable anything else on the MFD as its a basic one.

Na it generally sits between low 300's to 440 ish and shows a different figure almost every time I've checked it .Barbel330 wrote:Is it miles until service?
I can't seem to link a raise of fall in value to anything particular (ie heavy footed ,different amounts of fuel in the tank ect ) . I dare say it's not important but my local vw van centre don't know what it's for either lol .
Thanks for the heads up about software
Apart from a mk1 golf back in the day , I'm fairly new to vdubs . Its just I own apexi software to map my 94 scooby and wondered what the most cost effective way was to check codes and activate options on the newer vag ecu's .
