Hi Cliffy
I'm new to the forum too, I don't yet own an ex Gas Board Caddy, however I have just registered on BCA and Mannheim auctions and will be looking to buy one early July.
Do you own one and if so, how do you find it?

I am in the same position as Roose, looking to go down sometime June/July as i am not a fan of the eBay private seller crooks.

Here Here Silver 145!
No prices. on the auction sites, but as you say there are plenty of private and garage sellers about. It'd be good to know what prices folk have previously paid at auction.

Petetim - How does the caddy run? Are you happy with it?

Cheers

You'll defo et a good deal at the auctions. Be prepared to work out the VAT and fees though so you have a ceiling to bid too, you'll outbid dealers and still save lots of money.

Hey Roose,

I was looking at "http://www.cva-auctions.co.uk/"

They are auctioning off 5 next Thursday and the videos supplied are fairly detailed to point out negatives of the van (small scratch etc)

Spoke to the auction house and for a 120k milage they usually sell for 3-3.3k including VAT according to them - the ones next week are lower milage though so i would expect slightly higher.

Typically on ebay i see 120k for around the 4-5k mark with VAT

Just passing around what i have seen/heard so if you have any tips from looking or in future let us know also sir!

Cheers Maxi4life, would say I'll be visiting one of the auctions in July. πŸ‘

Hi Silver145,
Thanks for that, this site does provide a real good detail of condition from the videos, zooming in on areas a photo wouldn't show. Them prices are very keen tooπŸ‘
Manheim does detail a PDF vehicle report with any scratches, soiling and odours highlighted.
Would love to purchase sooner, but time won't permit just yet, will hope to get to auctions in July, keep us posted if you go to auction and purchase, hope you find what you're looking for πŸ‘

Cheers

I have an ex bg, wish I knew about the auctions would've saved some money but oh well I'm happy with it. Only thing I'd say is have good look around I saw loads of these vans some in rough condition if your using it for work this may not matter to you.

Thanx Jenksy25
As long as your happy with the van that's all that matters. πŸ‘
I'm not purchasing for work use, always had a van for house renovations, bikes and Kayaks etc, or for multi purpose as they market some motors nowadays.

I recently went to an auction in Poole where 7 ex BG vans were for sale. The problem I found were that dealers did not consider VAT as they can reclaim it. The newest was 2011. The good ones, although still had stained seats and body marks went for between Β£5800 to Β£6300 +VAT and auction costs hence not cheap for a private buyer. Went on Gumtree and bought a great 2012 Caddy with colour coded bumbers and alloy wheels (68k miles) for Β£6400. A much better deal so beware of auctions unless they go really cheap.
