Yeah put a continuity test on them
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious

Re: Oops what have I done Malfunction 0010
OK Stan, thanks
I went to run another auto scan today and the symptoms changed. Interesting I thought that means something else must have changed. All the dash lights flashing and relays clicking I thought maybe a relay had gone.
Anyway I followed the earlier advice from beemer124 & NZDubNurd and checked the battery. WOW 8.9v! OK that's unexpected, I've got in on charge and I'll update this thread later after its full and I've had VCDS on it again
Coincidence can be a bitch sometimes, fingers crossed that's all it is

Re: Oops what have I done Malfunction 0010
Thanks guys you were spot on, it would have been a long time before I thought to check the battery. Probably because I was working on the van at the time and always assume its my fault because experience has taught me that it usually is
So I'm pleased I'm not as ham fisted as I thought but embarrassed at resorting to the forum to diagnose a flat battery
Yep they don't come much easier, the hardest part was borrowing a charger
Thanks to @stan-the-man as well between you you have saved me a lot of aggro

Glad to hear it was a simple fix as that Always a good feeling when you think it's something expensive but turns out to be nothing. Have a nice weekend
