Oops what have I done Malfunction 0010

Post by Beaker2135 »

And more importantly how do I fix it
I've been tidying the rats nest that someone else left behind the radio and possibly/probably touch a live to the chassis

Now on turning the key I get 3 high pitch bleeps and van won't start
I've run an auto scan and cleared the fault codes
The auto scan now shows status:malfunction 0010 for engine, hvac, cent elect, park/steer assist, instruments, door elect, driver & passenger
Van won't lock of course!
Navigation scans ok but doesn't work

I pulled every fuse under dash and in engine bay they are all good

Any help gratefully received
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is

Do a full scan, get the actual fault codes from each module.

I've copied this from the auto scan I saved. I edited it to make it smaller. Hope its got what you want. If not I can do a new scan if necessary but basically they are all voltage too low none existent?

Looks like the supply voltage dropped when you shorted whatever it was you shorted.
No communication with ABS makes me think it's not got power. Have you checked the engine bay fuses?

I've turned this up on RossTech, not very helpful but conforms what we know

00532 - Supply Voltage B+
00532 - Supply Voltage B+: Signal too Low
Possible Causes
Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module faulty
Power Supply (Battery/Generator) faulty
Possible Solutions
Check/Repair Wiring/Connectors from/to Control Module
Check Power Supply (Battery/Generator)
Special Notes
When found in an individual control module, it's most likely a local source (e.g. wiring/connectors).
When found in multiple control modules at the same time, it's most likely a common source (e.g. ground spot, battery, generator).
Intermittent codes are often stored during low outside temperature when the battery capacity goes down and may be ignored.
Common with 16946/P0562/001378 - System Voltage: Too Low stored in other control modules.

Yeah pulled them all except the big square one marked 100 also pulled all the one under the dash. so everything has had no voltage. these are the codes that didn't clear

Have you tried going to each module individually and clearing faults?

not every module but I tried engine & abs. no joy

I was hoping it would be something that simple, I've never used VCDS before, baptism of fire

I'll have another look tomorrow with a clear mind

Ok, don't stress over it, I'm sure it's a simple (ish) fix.

Hi, just a really basic idea here, you are sure there is enough power on your battery ?
Might sound stupid, but sometimes it's the smallest thing that is wrong. I once opened the engine on a moped I had, just to find out it was out of fuel

Battery was my initial thought too.

It's most likely a blown fuse, low battery, faulty relay.

For the modules to give comms, they are getting some power.

It doesn't take much to run the battery low enough to cause issues.

Thanks lads, I don't think it's the battery but I'll check it. Already pulled all the fuses in cab and engine bay, was hoping there might be one somewhere else
Pretty sure I've fried something BCM?

Did you test fuses you pulled with tester? Visual test can be misleading as there might be just a hairline crack in the fuse. They don't always blow to bits. Worth checking again :)
