Ball head pins ... I quoted the number mentioned further up this thread to a local vw dealer who got them in for me for the next day ...

Where do you think the eBay sellers get them? These are VW parts, you can do no better than go directly to the source.
Don't fool yourself by thinking eBay is full of good deals, there are also sellers on there who bump up the price of a product knowing people will prefer not to get themselves to the main supplier. Instead, just order it online at what is often a huge markup.

Just bought a caddy and looked at the engine and has no cover on it, do they all come without a cover?

Hi Caddy Nabz, I don`t think that any Caddy comes with an engine cover in the UK market. It maybe a different matter in other countries where it is sold. At the end of the day it is just purely cosmetic, but it does tidy up the engine bay.

Re: Cheapskate Caddy 4 Engine Cover Mod / Hack
I did my engine cover a couple of weeks ago. Photos in the forthcoming build thread
Bought a VW engine cover on eBay from a breakers, Golf mk7 if I recall. I think it was about £38 delivered and was mint. Part # 04L 103 925 Q
Then I ordered the oil filler O ring and ball joints from TPS, £14:
04L 103 164 x2
04L 133 287 x1
Note these part numbers are for a 2017 TDI, others may be different.
For a non-mechanic like me it was a 10 minute job to fit. Very happy with it. As others have said, completely unnecessary but tidies up the snakes’ wedding under there that comes standard. Also possibly my imagination but seems a little quieter on tickover. Easy mod and cheap.

Anyone know if the engine cover can be painted. For example calliper spray paint so it can handle the heat???

Can anybody shed some light on the differences on these covers?
After searching the forums I’ve come up with 2 part numbers.

If it’s for caddy you need the bottom one. Just painting mine. I have to sort out the bleeding under the tape.

Super, I thought so as it stated on this thread but I found part numbers that pointed to the other.
