Wipers stopped working half way

Hi all,

How likely is it that the wiper motor could fail half way through clearing the windscreen?

The story is that the wiper mechanism somehow caught the lead that powers it and pulled out the thinner wire, stopping the wipers half way across the screen.

I've fixed the plug wire but still no working wipers. I've also checked the fuse and that's fine.

Is there anything I've missed before I start shopping for a new wiper motor

Have you checked the motor for power and earth
