Post by Simon46 »

Just come home from shopping in the missus car to find a pool of oil on drive. Went under van to find coolant dripping from water pump and oil all over the sump. Aaargh

Well topped up empty coolant bottle last night. Went to tps in cheadle heath to enquire about water pump and cambelt kit. 160 quid but 20 quid back if you take in old pump. The oil appears to have mixed with water on the leaking sump plug ( naughty garage for not replacing the plug with a new washer)and been blown round by the cooling fan.
Today its not leaking. I'll be back methinks.

It's not a real VW, if it's not leaking!

Just wait until the electricity leaks out - then you'll REALLY have trouble

Garage has just informed me
All stripped down. Cambelt split, waterpump cracked. Just in time before it snapped luckily. Unfortunately the crank oil seal is leaking. Gonna cost another 95. Makes sense to do it whilst its apart as the new oil will be thinner and leak more
