Parking sensors

Post by Celticrsmith »

My caddy has 2 reversing sensors but is it easy enough to upgrade to 4? Looking to change the textured rear to smooth but all have the 4 sensor holes.

Mine seems to be aftermarket kit fitted to my bg van. I put duct tape over the speaker it was that loud.

I have an ex bg van too, can't seem to find Swb rear bumpers with just the two holes. I'd like to retain them but could I branch 2 more out and fit the 4 sensors?

Also, any ages Swb rear bumpers fit any caddy, right?

The oem setup is either 4 (normal PDC) or 6 sensors (park assist)
If you have two holes that means someone drilled them themselves to fit aftermarket sensors.

You can add two more sensors but it all depends what was originally fitted by previous owner. It could be that the aftermarket module only supports two sensors as well. But we don't know that for sure

British gas had them fitted. It seems to be calibrated to emit the steady tone at the exact distance so you can open the rear doors without them touching the object behind it.

Thanks guys.

So, I have the 2 fitted by BG, I want to replace my textured bumper with a smooth one. What do I need to install 4 rear parking sensors, wiring/loom wise?

Hi

I've just got an ex BG caddy and it has what looks like 2 reversing sensors on the bumper.
The thing is Im not sure they actually are sensors at all. Maybe blanks or dummys?
Any one else found this?

For oem install you need 4 x sensors + module + buzzer + wiring of course.

Look from underneath if you see any wiring behind the bumper and crash bar. If you have a loom there it will be entering the car at the very right corner (drivers side). There will be bung there.

Thanks

Mine are definitely wired up and work. So the whole wiring needs to be re run for 4 sensors?

I'm looking to upgrade the uh at some point, maybe I could go without the sensors until I fit a reversing camera?

Quick one guys, if I were to source a rear bumper that has all the sensors and wires attached, and it just has a plug, will this all hook up easy enough?

Forgot to say, I have a 2010 pre facelift and the bumpers from a 2014 (for wiring loom purposes)
