How to carpet back of van

Post by Sibo »

I am looking at carpeting the roof and walls of van but need as much help and info as possible. Is there any good videos or pictures step by step guides.
Is it best to ply line the walls from floor tight up to the roof and then glue the carpet to the ply.
The roof , does it get left and then glue carpet straight to that covering the clips as well ?

Hello Sibo, to get a good finish you need to remove the ply panels before covering with carpet.
Also you may need to carpet the places on the sides of the van where the ply lining is not covering.
I will post some pics for you.

I have carpeted then screwed the ply onto the side of the van, that way you can trim around all the edges of ply. Hope that helps

Your a little far from me mate, am now living in Norfolk or I could have helped you out.

Hello Bert.c
Yes I use stuff off eBay from mega van mats
It stretches 4 ways and very forgiving.
Don’t forget to buy a good spray glue too.

Hello there Sifu
No it’s not my day job, have had experience with trimming before ( have been into car sounds systems ) you try and save money when ever you can!
Has your van been ply lined?
I don’t mind helping you out or your more than welcome to have a look at mine.

No mate not ply lined yet. Has plastic panels over the single skin bits. The thing I don't really get is how you carpet something that's not flat, like the wheels arches?

Hi Andy. I'm looking to carpet my solid bulk head and wondered if it's doable neatly. I mean will it stretch into all the curves etc. ?

Cheers
Paul

I am going t do the same . Going to ply over the mesh in the bulkhead and then carpet both sides with accostic carpet, I might even fill the voids in between the mesh for better sound deadening

Cool. Just not sure how well the carpet will stretch into all the curves. Sure it's been done tho

Should be ok. The carpet gets into the groves on the wheel arches
