Bluetooth Module
My Caddy Maxi has Bluetooth connectivity for my phone, but I am unable to connect it so I can use Spotify for music.
I’ve been told I need a Bluetooth module for my RCD510. Anybody know what I need and how to connect it up?
Help much appreciated.

Re: Bluetooth Module
So, even though you have Bluetooth, someone has advised you need Bluetooth??
I don't get it!
Do you have access to VCDS to at lease learn which exact Bluetooth module you already have?

Re: Bluetooth Module
That does sound stupid now you mention it, haha. I’m clueless when it comes to this stuff.
All I know is, that my phone connects so I can make and receive calls, but nothing in the way of music streaming.
I’ve just come into the Caddy world and don’t know anyone with VCDS. I’m in Reading, Berkshire if that helps.
Matt.

Re: Bluetooth Module
Is this the same problem with parrot kits working with phone Bluetooth but not music? If so I bought a cheap aux adapter that now accepts my Spotify.

Re: Bluetooth Module
So there is no way of wirelessly doing it apart from a wireless aux thingy? I’d like track info and the ability to skip tracks on the head unit.
Anyone with a RCD510 shed any light, or is it a non starter?

Re: Bluetooth Module
It depends on the Bluetooth module whether you can stream music or not.
It depends on the SW level of the RCD510 whether you can see track info and skip forward and back.
Without information on both, it is impossible to say.

Re: Bluetooth Module
Ok, I’ve done a bit of research and I can’t decide if it’s the module that needs updating to the 9w7 or the RCD firmware.
Will it tell me the firmware if I hold down the setup button?

Re: Bluetooth Module
Ok, I managed to get some pics which might help.
So the display shows that I have the option of BT but I am unable to press it.
This I'm guessing is the firmware.

Re: Bluetooth Module
I could be way of here... have you tried pressing play on your phone then trying to select it. I have to do this on my head unit that is a lesser model than yours. I cant select the Bluetooth audio until something is playing .

Re: Bluetooth Module
AUX is fine, just plug that in and away we go. Bluetooth is fine on the RCD for calls, phonebook etc. I can use hands free via the mic in the interior light unit. If I disconnect from aux and try and play music it just comes out of the speakers on the phone.
I had a look under the seats for the bluetooth module, but it isn't there. From what I've seen, it's usually in a foam surround attached to the floor with velcro.
Went to the VW dealer in Reading today, explained the situation, and they were just as clueless as me tbh. He said he would look into it, but I'm not holding my breath.
