Back pain

Post by Yeti »

This post is being sent from the floor of my kitchen.

At 5' 11.75", I'm officially too tall to do big distances in our 2k. I don't want to get rid of the bulkhead, because we need it for security. Anyone got and ideas to stop this van from crippling me?

Annoyingly, I can drive my 9k caddy all day everyday just fine
Sorry chaps, much as our 2k looks nice, I prefer my Mk2. ;)

I have the same issue at 6'4. My connect had much more room....and holes in the floor unfortunately.

Do these 100% offer more room for the seat?

Get those god awful seats out vw send them out with. Put some mk6 gti seats in mine. Drove from the south coat to John o groats did 1750 miles in 4 days, was a little stiff but sitting for 14 hours will do that to you. I’m 6 ft 2 left it on the original bases so I’m a little lower helps with the angle and reduces leg pains.

How much does that bulkhead move it back by?
Were the mk6 golf seats a straight fit?

All golf seats from mk5 onwards fit by cutting two lugs off and drilling two holes. Mine are fitted using large washers through the holes for the seat base bolts saving drilling 2 holes.

If your after a direct fit you can change the bases to touran bases which means no drilling.

Straight fit onto caddy bases Audi a1 seats are the same platform base.

Touran seats are a lot cheaper between £50 -£100 but I can’t vouch how these improve comfort for us longer legged people.

Plenty of information on the forum on seats swaps

Thanks, yeah, I was thinking a touran seat is probably bulkier, so won't go back as far.

If A1 seats fit, does that also bode well for the equivalent polo/ibiza/fabia?

As far as I’ve ever read I can’t think of anyone else ever saying something from the VAG won’t fit with either touran bases or a drill.

So today took out the bulk head this is what I discovered.

With the standard bulkhead in.

With the bulkhead out. Hardly any difference is in conclusion standard bulk head is fine you will need to do the seats maybe.

Appreciate that.

In the meantime I'm driving my mk2. I can hardly reach the pedals with the seat right back
