Caddy 1.6 74ps bluemotion remap

Post by KDW »

Hello guys, I'm looking to buy a Caddy and have found one with decent miles but it's the 74ps bluemotion engine. Can this engine be remapped to 140ps? Anyone have any experience with this engine? Thanks.

Doc rises some strong points for not remapping the 74 ps. His post is about half way through if the link has worked.

Caddy 1.6 74ps bluemotion remap

Post by RKDesigns »

All 1.6 TDI are the same base... only different ecu Models and different mappings 75hp 102hp 90hp perhaps Some more...

The bleumotion versions are just lowered extra down that you get the feelin they are giving less pollution because they feel powerless. People have Paid a lot extra for that... while people just get fooled.

Its all software so if you have a 1.6 TDI go for a custom remapped not for just a Chiptuning somewhere.

Note: manual versions are stronger for a boost of torque than the dsg boxes when the 1.6 TDI gets loose

Is the 74 really underpowered? Looking for my first Caddy and there seems to be plenty of the 74s for lesser money about but a lot of my work is motorway miles so it would do my head in if my new van was totally gutless. I don't carry a lot of weight or drive flat out everywhere but would like a bit of poke if I needed it so would rather spend the extra if it was worth it

If its loaded just drive like normal and its already faster when its remapped. Drives a lot better and better more Smooth handling and Yes factory has set the 75hp way too low... from factory i hated it.

Bleumotion or not, a 74ps Goes to 140ps - 150ps
180nm becomes at least 300nm

Any feedback on this thread?
I bought a 1.6 TDI 75 hp Bluemotion and it is very sluggish, i thought about a remap but i am afraid if the engine can handle it long term (had new injectors already)

mines a non bluemotion and currently got a Revo map on mine which made a huge difference. I've currently got EGR issues so having it coded out along with the DPF which the Revo software doesn't cover so having a custom map added. Should could come with 160hp and 260ish torque

My issue is if the engine can handle all that power, or it might cause problems years later since the engine was not designed for so much hp
