ipod classic

Post by 2kLifeK9 »

I have tried to connect an ipod classic to the usb port on the recent Maxi Life. The Discover Media does not recognise the player. Has anyone worked out how to do it?

TIA

I think you might need USB hub buddy. The front USB is for charging only if I recall, and beside it is aux port.

Did you try music on usb stick and see if it plays?

Thanks for the reply STM.

I copied a few albums onto a usb stick and it played ok on the media player. It even shows the album graphics.
Although this method works it would be nice if I could get the ipod working rather than having to copy my collection onto a stick. The wheel on the ipod is a lot quicker than scrolling the screen on the media player.

I guess it is probably a conflict of software - I just wondered if there is a getaround.

Does your van have a 3.5mm jack plug next to the USB? That worked on mine, only downside was I had to use iPod itself to change tracks etc.

Yes it does, but then I need to use a separate charger. After reading many different forum threads it does not look possible to do what I want. :(
Looks like I have to go usb stick route.

I opted for 3.0 1tb hdd instead of iPod as it kept freezing/resetting quite often. It plays perfect but you can only scroll via radio.

You need the MDI (Media Device Interface) fitted if you want to read iPod/iPhone via USB.

So no option for iPod on Caddy 4 (on OEM head unit allowing browsing of content on head unit)?
