New front wings

Post by phil2144 »

My caddy has a case of metal worns in the front wings. VW warranty dept was not a all interested in replacing them, so it's left with me to replace them. So the question is original or aftermarket? What pattern parts fit amd look nice and can they be painted before fitting them?

It's really a case of what you want from the van.
If you like to keep your van in good shape and will notice things like panel gaps and poor alignment of panels then spend the extra few quid and get original parts.
The price you'll pay a bodyshop to get pattern parts to align perfectly will outweigh the price difference.

What did VW warranty use as their excuse not to cover the wing rust under their guarantee?

Its a 2008 and have owned it since new. The garage vw van Centre Liverpool said that VW just rejected it, could I take it further?

Any idea what the cost for each is?

I'd get it in writing as to why they are rejecting a warranty claim, accepting a verbal rejection is just like taking a kick in the stones and not reacting.

The wings are listed at £145 each but you'll get a good chunk off that if you talk nice to the parts guy.
You might even play your cards right with the warranty guy and if you do accept they won't cover the wings then ask him to at least give you trade (40% discount) price on the replacements.
