Duct work for centre console help
Hi, is there anybody out there that has done the centre console upgrade who might have a photo of how the duct work runs past the hand brake? I had to strip the centre console right down to replace the centre section which is fixed to the console. I cannot see how it is supposed to fit around the hand brake. Any help would be hugely appreciated as I've wasted 3 hours on this so far.

Re: Duct work for centre console help
It has to go through the handbrake cable buddy if I recall so you need release the cable and possibly 4 nuts holding the assembly down as well

Re: Duct work for centre console help
Thanks for that Stan. Thats what I thought as there an obvious hole at the front of the hand brake frame. The problem is, even with the cable released it there is nowhere for the duct coming down from the 2 outlet vents to go. The cable sit across the the aperture. Put my old console back for the moment as I've had enough of this so no photo to show what I'm on about.

This is what I mean
There is no way the duct coming down from the 2 rear vents can get past the hand brake cable set up.

Yeah you need to chock the wheels and completely remove that nut to separate the cables because the Y shape duct has to go below that and you wont get it in otherwise. 10mm ratchet spanner is the best tool because it takes a lot of turns on that one and nothing else really fits in there except a fixed spanner.
Other end is easy just pull out the blanking pieces and pop the Y piece in.

Re: Duct work for centre console help
I've done the plug part for the duct work. I can even see how the centre section of duct work will go under the hand brake frame. What I can not fathom out is how the section from the 2 outlets to the centre section goes through where the hand brake cable is.

Disconnect the rod from the handbrake cables by undoing the black adjustment nut fully.
Remove the handbrake turret from the floor.
The duct will slip into the turret once you have it removed.
Then, just refit all and remember to tension your handbrake cable correctly.

You also need the two special bolts to connect it firmly to the turret.

Re: Duct work for centre console help
Ahhhh, think I understand now. So the threaded bar with the adjuster nut goes between the Y section on the duct leading up to the outlets. Thanks to all those who supplied info.
Maxi4life, yep got the special bolts, nuts and covers.
Thanks again everyone.

No problem, you really need those bolts to make it solid. It's funny cos even with it all connected properly when my wife "steals" my armrest it really flexes so I can only imagine how bad it would be if you didn't fix it down properly.

Re: Duct work for centre console help
They slot into the metal handbrake bracket and are keyed so wont turn and they provide a stud either side to tighten the centre console onto.
So it's the two bolts and nuts you'll need.

And 2 covers for the holes where the nut is. If you want to make it look nice and neat.
