Any Android HU gurus out there?
Hi Guys,
Bought a Eonon Android HU a month or so ago and after a few bits of advice.
Its all fitted nicely, reverse camera on and working and really pleased with it so far.
Ive burned a few CD's onto my laptop and then transferred them to an SD card and inserted it into the HU. Can find all the albums and songs no problem, issue is it will only play one song and then stop. I would like to play an album all the way through without having to start each song. Does anyone know a way around it or any decent music player apps?
Also does any of you use any downloaded apps that make things work a bit better and easier?
Ive only just started searching through it and playing with it so any tips would be very welcome.
Thanks
Gee

Try a different media player app, I'd recommend Car Tunes.
OBDeleven is worth a look as is VAG DPF.
If using without data you might want a different map app, Google isn't great offline.

If I used car tunes or similar would it go straight to the music on the SD card?
I've only just started playing with it and currently I'm going into 'settings', 'SD card' then opening folders with albums in. Not a very good way of doing it, especially when driving. Just after something simple to use.
I've got a decent amount of data on my phone contract so can use it as a WiFi hotspot if I need to use maps.
Thanks

No Mark I haven't added any apps yet but willing to give any suggestions a go.mark1a wrote:Have you tried VLC as a media player?
Do you use VLC?
Does it find the music on the SD card without going through loads of pages?
Thanks

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
I’ve installed VLC primarily to play video files, I use Spotify nearly all of the time for music. I’m going out later, I’ll try playing an album from the SD card and see if plays continuously.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
I think pretty much all media player apps get data from the android media service on what media is available. There is a delay on this with my Pumpkin branded head unit, car tunes does not see any media for the first 5 to 10 seconds, after that it sees everything that is available on all storage devices - you don't have to browse to find the SD card.
Car tunes has an infinite playlist option that just plays all available music on random, that how I mostly use it.
VLC is a great player, but with more capability comes more complexity.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
Just been out and played a few tracks using the standard player and they follow on fine. They’re just MP3 files in folders on a SD card. Mine is Pumpkin not Eonon but I guess they’re very similar. Android 7.1.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
Mark,
I spent half hour messing with it and managed to find the music on the SD card using the pre installed app and got it to play properly so that seems to be an option, pity aesthetically it is pretty uninspiring to look at but it is working!
Thanks for your replies

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
Totty,
I downloaded Car Tunes today, didn't really get it working.
The Eonon HU came pre loaded with a few songs on it hard drive and it found them ok. I couldn't get it to find and play the ones on the SD card.
Only way I could see the SD card was advanced settings "music folder for infinite playlist" then the artists come up then I select an artist and there is nothing there.
How do you play from the playlist?
Thanks
Gee

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
Strange, mine just works, there is a delay before it picks up content on the SD card but only a few seconds. Used it for years on my phone before the HU.
Try any high rated player like poweramp, most are better than the standard one.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
I’ve tried Car Tunes, Blackplayer and Poweramp and they’re all the same, won’t find the SD card. I’ve tried 2 different cards but still the same. Got to be something with the head unit I think.
I’ve contacted Eonon through their chat and had some advice, going to have to try what they say and hopefully it works.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
See if a 3rd party file manager app finds the SD card and can access it's content. If it's OK then the problem is likely to be related to Android not scanning the SD card for media - this happens if you put a file named .nomedia in the root of it, but I doubt that's the cause.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
As per the suggestion above try ES Media Explorer. It has a built in player and should find your SD card with no issues.

Re: Any Android HU gurus out there?
Thanks guys I’ll hopefully try that today if I can get into the van through all this snow! Bizarre thing is that I can open the sd card if I go into settings, storage and open sd card can find the music that way. ♂️
