Best way to carpert the rear

What have people found the easiest way to carper the rear sides? Carpet the ply first and then put it in or leave it in and just go for it?

Never done it before so wondered what others have learned from experience.

Mega van mats mate, all the way. Not finished mine yet cos of time factors but it is so straight forward to do.
I've done the pillars 1st and tucked into rubbers. I've done roof lining but not had time to do side panels and doors yet. I'm doing them off the van so any of it can be removed if needed.
It's great stuff and really easy to use.

also agree with megavanmats for your carpet.

I took all the ply out, carpeted the metal work that’s not covered by ply, then trim the ply that way you get a much neater finish.

Hi there new to this fourum. I’ve got a an 08 caddy SDI I’m looking to carpet my interior and remove bulkhead are there any links part numbers for the carpet materials needed and can you get a kit for the cab or does the carpet from a sharan go straight in ?

Also agree with mega van matts. I used black screw caps to create some detail. Also if your taking it all off. Then sound deadening is a must.

Thanks guys. Those all look amazing. Made a start on the sound deadening this morning so getting closer. Thanks for the advice, I’ll carpert the ply outside and then put it in.

Haven’t bought the carpet yet but i’ll take the advice on the stuff you guys use.

Well that is a very open question. What are you using it for do you want thermal as well as sound you can go crazy with it mate. I’ve only done floor walls and doors. And put a motexion bulkhead I hear nothing. I used silent coat. Put people use house insulation in the cross beams stuff the doors.

Just for a bit of noise reduction at motorway speeds. Not intending on sleeping in it or using it as a camper.

Anyone know the amount of carpet I’d need to carpet sides including the metal parts and rear doors? Not going to do the roof lining or floor. I see mega van mats do 2m width and sell by the metre or do a 10m x2m long roll. Don’t want to end up with lots extra.

Did you guys end up with lots of offcuts or use twice as much as expected?

I got 4m grey and 2m black. Had tons left over to do my bulkhead.

Thanks mate. I was thinking based on the size of the van 2m per side and 1.5m to do the rear doors so glad to hear 6m should be enough.

Just checked and I bought 5m and there wasn't a scrap left plus I used every bit of glue, hardest bit I found was cutting the bloody stuff - it's a lot tougher than it looks.
