Re: brake piston tool
I use a Stillson wrench and it's normally anti clockwise to wind them in although I've never done a VW

Re: brake piston tool
Changed my rear brakes last weekend and fairly sure I went clockwise to put the piston back in

Re: brake piston tool
Just been looking at a tool kit for this very job on my new to me Caddy
On my old focus I used internal circlip pliers to turn the piston
Worked a treat

Clockwise on the back on VAGs, fronts just push in. I've had one of these sets for a few years and it's fine for occasional diy use.

Re: brake piston tool
Sore topic for me. Attempted mine last night as the pad had totally disentegrated the piston came right out, losing all the fluid on my journey!! Couldn't get the tool in to wind it back in so used a hammer.....
That was one side, the other I had to give up on as it was dark and possibly seized but was still pushing out fluid.

Re: brake piston tool
You can put the piston back and wind it in but I suspect you may of damaged something if you used a hammer buddy.Celticrsmith wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 11:29 am Sore topic for me. Re: brake piston tool
Was this some kind of freak premature failure as its really difficult for brakes to get into such a bad condition without you noticing well beforehandCelticrsmith wrote: ↑Wed Mar 21, 2018 11:29 am Sore topic for me. No, I was a case of I’ll do it tomorrow. All fixed and working now though
