Injector replacement

Post by Rax74 »

Hi all this is my first post, I have a 2011 ex B/G van 1.6 tdi and have a fault with injector number 1 it’s been cleared and ran for a couple of hundred miles and then came back, now it won’t clear. My question is I’m thinking of replacing with a second hand unit do I need to Code it to the engine or can I just plug and play so to speak. I’d rather a new injector but they’re not cheap.
Thanks In advance

Hi, welcome to the forum.
When changing injectors on the 1.6TDI, you should always program the injector offset, otherwise you'll be miss-fueling that cylinder and possibly causing irreparable damage.

Hi,
There goes my idea of changing the injector in a lay-by then if I broke down.
How expensive is the coder?
Thanks

Running a replacement to get you home won't be too bad, it's these cowboys who advise that the ECU will "learn from the others" that need to be avoided. When they are not coded they knock like Thor's hammer.
