Caddy sliding door

Post by Pepsi »

Hi all
Got a 56 caddy and having problems with the sliding door. It opens but takes a lot of force to open it. Think the mechanism inside is a bit flustered.
How would I go about sorting this out. Not taken anything off yet just wandered if it’s an easy fix.

If it don’t get sorted I think I will end up pulling the handle off.
Any ideas??

Are all the rollers in good condition?
1 on top, 3 in middle channel and 3 in the bottom.
I've seen some in a very bad state and the door was a nightmare to move.

Quick reply. Just checked the roller the seem to be ok.
Once it’s open the doors slides well it’s just I’m having to yank the handle to open it

They are a bit filthy. Didn’t realise.

Hope you can tell from the pics.
Need it to open properly as it’s a works van and don’t want to crawl in from the back doors.

Check the bottom roller "pocket", where the rollers end up when the door is shut. That might be packed with dirt and dust.
Your toilets do look to be in decent condition so I'm assuming it's not them causing your problem.

My toilets!?!? I hope they are clean! Lol

I’ve got a air duster which I spreader about in the pockets and seem to be fairly clean.

Tbh I think it may be something to do with the handle mechanism. It doesn’t seem to ‘click’ if u know what I mean. Takes a few Hard pulls of the handle to open it.

Don't ask me how but autocorrect changed rollers to toilets. At least I intended to type rollers, who knows....

Mines been doing the same,& a good clean & lube did the trick, the lower roller gets a lot of road grime in it,ive had it sticking on me a couple of times,I think a bit of preventative care will keep it running in future, instead of waiting for it to get stuck.
